Like I said in this post Todd and I decided this past weekend to head towards the mountains. Our planned day trip a few weeks ago was canceled b/c of bad weather so we figured why not?
We went to the Apple Orchard first.
And alllll of the apples were either on the ground or made into cider by now. Bummer. But – we did see some buds that will be apples next year – so I guess you could say we saw some apples.
We hopped on the big wagon, which was hooked to a John Deere, and went for a ride around the orchard.
And then we got the heck out of dodge and headed over to nearby state park. That’s were the fun began. We spent a few minutes in their tiny museum before heading over to the trails.
Jack channels his late great-grandpa Jack by his love of nature, rocks, water and all things to do w/ them.
Yes- the hat is U.G.L.Y. He picked it up at the outlets a few weeks ago and was pumped to wear it.
Ri was in her element as well. Makes me want to spend more time w/ Mother Nature.
Jack climbed rock after rock after rock, getting his feet wet a couple of times. The water was a bit frigid but he didn’t seem to mind.
Nervous explains me for sure. The kids climbing up and down these little hills and rocks. But- they loved it.
Daddy keeping a watchful eye while holding Jack’s half eaten apple.
And checking out the signs along the trail.
Early on during our walk the kids picked up sticks which they used to poke and prod in the water.
Daddy tried to be a big shot and hop across some rocks. Unfortunately for me my camera wasn’t on when he busted and fell into the water –wet feet and behind!
See- his pants are wet here.
Jack- I promise we’ll take you back. You’d do this every day if you could.
We came across this serious fisherman. He wasn’t messing around. He showed the kids a couple of fish that he caught.
That was it. A great day trip. Can’t wait to go back!
Until next time….
