A spy and a pumpkin...

This is another one of those just-so-mommy-remembers posts.

Short and sweet but I don't want to forget it.

Jack wrote his very first book this past weekend (Jack would say it's a 'chapter book'.) Ok.

He's been writing more and more and it just eats me up, you know, since I used to teach writing and all. It's so incredibly dorky but I love seeing my boy with his pencil, clipboard and yellow notepad about as much as I see him fielding a ball at shortstop and getting another player out. Lucky for us he does both so it's ok.

Let me tell you all about his book.

It's consists of two pages of yellow notebook paper- back and front, for a total of four pages. For some reason the first three pages are Chapter One and the final page is Chapter Two.

The title? Pumpkin Spy.

It's about..... tractors. Not pumpkins- just tractors. Gotta give him a lesson on the title of the book should have a little something to do w/ the actual book.

His sentences resembled a little something like this:

One thing I need is a Lego.
One thing I need is a tractor.
How do you train to be a driver?
How do you train to be a seed layer?
That's what I want to know.

And it went just about that- w/ a few more sentences amidst the ones I wrote above.

Did it make sense? Nope.
Was there a title on every page? Yep.
Did he have a period at the end of every sentence? Nope.
Did he have all the words spelled right? Yep. (He's OCD like that).
Did he illustrate w/ the most adorable tractor pictures? Yep.
Is he going to be a famous author one day? Maybe. J/K

But- I am one proud mommy.

A couple more can't forgets:

Today driving in the car Jack smirked when I began to sing a pop culture song. I asked him: "What - you don't like when Mommy sings to you?"

His reply: "No. I just like real music mom. Daddy music. Not Mommy music."

Oh well- guess he won't be listening to Britney Spears.

**************

Jack asked me today:
"If you're a dark skinned boy do you have a dark skinned dad and mom?"

First time he's ever asked me about race. Interesting.

Until next time...
