Our little sweet RiRi has already figured out how to take her diaper off, if that's the only thing she is wearing. Lately, we've been hitting the sandbox after dinner so she's filthy before bath time. Here she is last night waiting for me to take her upstairs.
Jack and Riley started preschool today. Jack is going M-W-F and Riley is going M-W. They were wonderful today, both of them. After fighting a traffic jam to get there (broken traffic light), we made it a few minutes late. I dropped Jack off first and his good buddy Kyle ran to greet him w/ a hug. They are in the same class again this year after being separated last year. I then dropped Riley off- she cried when I left but upon picking her up her teacher told me that she only cried for a few seconds after that and then was great the entire time. Whew-- I managed a quick trip to the post office and my weekly trip to Target, plus a little window shopping at our new Home Goods and Marshalls. It was nice.
Here are some pics of them this morning. I couldn't for the life of me get a good picture of the two of them together.
Now that Riley has mastered walking she is beginning to pick up words left and right. Granted, most of them are only words that I can understand, but she uses them over and over. I compiled a list like this for Jack when he was around this age, so it's only fair I put together one for RiRi.
- tu = truck
- Ju = Jack
- nana = banana
- mo = more
- bye bye = bye bye (w/ a wave)
- DaDa
- MaMa
- Paa Paa = (what the kids call my mom)
- baby (with an emphasis on the Y) = baby
She also says the little girls name across the street, Emelia. It's the cutest thing- it isn't exactly Emelia, but you get the jist of it.
Along with her budding vocabulary she has this annoyingly obnoxious grunt for anything and everything that she doens't have a word for, which is about everything. It grates on our nerves, but it will end soon enough.
I am taking off for my trip with Gretchen and Tracy on Saturday. We are going to Sante Fe, New Mexico for five days to celebrate Gretchen's 60th birthday, just the girls. It will be lots of fun. Todd has the kids over the weekend and then my mom comes to help him out Monday until I get back late Wednesday. I'll tell you all about it once I get back.
Until next time...
