One of my goals this summer was to have some mini adventures with the kids. By this, I mean do more than hang out and go to the pool (which we have done plenty of). Adventures may mean going to the book store, playing with friends we haven't seen in a while, taking day trips or trying something new. I feel kids need to be exposed to many things and want my children to have lots of neat experiences before they are stuck in school all day five days a week.
This week my close friend Shannon and I took our kids down to Columbia, SC for the day and went to Edventure, a phenomenal children's museum. I am telling you, this place rocks. It's hard to believe that Charlotte doesn't have a place like this. It's a two story fun house with everything hands on. Jack has been a few times, but we haven't been since last fall and it was time to head there again. We had a great day and the kids had a blast.
Here are some pics of our trip.
Yes, Jack and Maddie are almost the exact same age, although they may not look like it!! Here they are waiting for us to pay and get started.
They have the coolest construction zone area where kids can build all kinds of things and ride this bulldozer, which they can actually drive.
Here's Riley building with Legos (or shall we say crawling around in Legos.)
Here she tries her hand at nuts and bolts.
Maddie and Jack using teamwork to drive the bulldozer faster.
Jack is now organizing all the nuts and bolts.
OK- Jack LOVES this tractor. He's big into John Deere things these days.
Jack and Maddie try their hand at this bike.
Here they are drumming away. They can see themselves on a TV screen right in front of them. It was fun.
Until next time...
