Lobster Night

I think I wrote back in March about a super quick visit we had from Todd's cousin Karl and his wife and kids. They were stranded at the Charlotte airport with nowhere to go, it was 11:00 at night and Todd ended up going to get them and they crashed here for the night. Luckily, they were able to find a way home the next day, back to RI. It was nice seeing them and probably the only way we were ever going to get them to come visit us (:-) ).

Anyway- my point here is lobster night.

As a thank you they sent us a Lobster Gram, a gift certificate to a company that delivers live lobsters to your door via Fed Ex. Todd is a lobster connoisseur, having grown up in New England and I love them as well, so it was a great idea. We decided to have them delivered last Friday night. Let me tell you, delicious. That is the only word to describe our dinner.
There are several different meals you can choose from (check out www.livelob.com if you're interested), ranging from soups to steaks to fish to lobster. We chose Lobster Bisque, Lobster Ravioli, Lobster Cakes, lobster and dessert. HEAVEN, I tell ya.
When the Fed Ex guy came I eagerly opened the box and by George, they were alive my friend. Alive and kicking. I got them in the fridge for Todd to deal with when he got home from work.
Here's a rundown on our meal:
Lobster Bisque: Divine, heavenly, unbelievable. I could have just eaten that. Super rich and creamy. So good.
Lobster cakes: lumpy, lumpy, did I say lumpy, hand made cakes. You could tell they were hand made b/c they were mishapen and lumpy! Not perfectly round. So good.
Lobster Ravioli: not only did the ravi's have lobster in them, but the dish they came in with the cream sauce was loaded with lobster too. Out of this world.
Lobster: as good as any I have had. I don't really know the difference, but Todd said they were superb, so they must have been great.
Dessert: we were too full to enjoy it that night and shared it w/ friends the next night. It was great too.
So if you want to splurge, check it out. It's so worth the money!
Here's some pics....
