I can't help but to keep thinking about that Connecticut family that fell victim to a home invasion and the mom and two daughters ended up dying after being assaulted and the dad is still in the hospital. It has been racking my brain all week. It hits a little close to home b/c Todd is from Cheshire, where it happened and his dad knew the mom. I just pray those two men die a hard death via the death penalty and the dad can live to see another happy day in his life. It disgusts me. Ugh.
So about Jack... let's see. Well, he's still obsessed with the differences b/w boys and girls. He asks lots of questions about body parts, among other things:
- Why do girls have long hair?
- Why do girls get to paint their toenails?
- Does Daddy have big boobies?
He also goes on these tangents, sometimes not making much sense, about how when he gets older he's going to marry Maddie (his best girl friend) and then when he's done marrying Maddie he's going to marry me. Oh boy... .so we had to have the talk about only being able to marry a girl when you're an adult and she can't be in your family. We've had lots of "private part" talks and why they're private. I bet our daughter won't pay one bit of attention to that area of her body (I hope).
Jack's been in a great camp this week at the Little Gym. This week they have a sports theme with each day concentrating on one sport and then doing obstacle courses, etc. He's going again later in August for a Super Safari theme. He loves it and they tire him out so he usually passes out in his chair for a while when we get home.
Riley, our little pistol, is doing great. She crawls super fast now and has absolutely no intention of walking any time soon. I bet she won't walk until 16 months. That would be pushing Halloween time, but she doesn't mind scooting around on her knees.
She is trying hard to talk. I have gotten her to say baby, excuse me, all done, Dee Dee (for Kodiak) and she says a clear DaDa and a semi-clear Momma. Now of course she only says these things when she feels like it and they have only occurred a few times, but she's trying. They're not the clearest of words either, but I can tell what she's saying. We've also been working on body parts and she can point to her head, belly, arms, toes and knees. She loves playing that game and gets all excited when we make a big deal about it.
She's also gotten to be quite a lover. She will crawl up into our lap and lay her head down on our chest. She also does it to Jack and to her baby dolls. I'll ask her, "RiRi, where's your baby?" She will promptly crawl over to the basket of dolls and pull one out, hug it and say, "Aaahhhh." It's so cute. She had her first "play date" this week. She regularly plays with Emelia across the street, but the big boys are always around. This time it was just the girls. The boys were in camp and Riley and I went to Kaitlyn's house and played with her and her mom and enjoyed a delicious lunch (where Riley promptly dumped her unwanted lunch onto Kerrie's nice rug). Oh well.... kids...
That's about it from the Milligan's.Until next time...
