Literally, we had fun in the sun for a week. The weather was almost perfect- not a cloud in the sky all week, plus the humidity, which is next to unbearable in August, hadn't permeated the beach yet, so it was great.
We went down last Friday and enjoyed some cocktails at the Tiki Bar with Todd's parents and the kids, Jack even had his very own Strawberry Daiquiri (virgin, of course.) Todd and Jack also hit the range that afternoon to hit some balls. At dusk, after Riley was sound asleep, we hit the 11th hole (his parents live on the 11th green) and let Jack hit it to the green from the fairway and then put it in. Jack was lucky enough to go to the driving range three times this week, and his swing is getting better and better. I swear he's going to be just as good as his dad soon enough. Of course each trip to the range included a stop at the turn room for a snack and fun drink.
We spent quite a bit of time in the pool. Jack has been taking swim lessons and although he isn't quite swimming, he made leaps and bounds this week. He jumps in, going under water (w/ one of us semi-catching him) and then we give him a push towards the steps and he paddles under water the rest of the way. Granted, it's not very far, but I am very proud of him. He spent some time in the baby pool as well, making lots of new friends that hopefully we can spend some time with again at the pools this summer. We're heading down for two weeks at the end of June.
On Sunday our friends, Shaw and Martine, (the ones responsible for setting Todd and I up) came down for the day. They have a little boy, Lucas, so Jack had a playmate all day. Thank God, b/c he gets a bit high maintenance after playing alone for a couple of days. We went to the beach for a couple of hours and the boys played like rock stars. We hit the beach club for lunch and then the boys swam in the pool before heading home and crashing hard for a nap. They rested up for a cookout that night, with several of Steve and Gretchen's friends. Lots of good eats!
One big event that happened this week is our little sweetie started to finally crawl. She still doesn't have it quite down all the way, but she's almost there. Thank God- I thought she'd never get it. I realized towards the end of our stay that I didn't have many pics of her, but most of the pics I had already taken were done while she was sleeping. Oh well- here's a couple of cute ones.
We arrived home last night and I got the kids in bed and unpacked. Todd is in Pinehurst w/ clients golfing, but comes back today. It's crazy, but today is our 5 year anniversary! Hard to believe, but it's true.
Until next time...
