Summer's here...

As a student/teacher for about 25 years of my life, summer has always "officially" started when school ended. I know it doesn't technically start until June 21st or something like that, but for me when that last bell rang I was free to fly like a bird. Well, in preschool terms, that means that summer came today, and that bird will by flyin' until the Wednesday after Labor Day. LONGGGG summer, in my opinion.

Jack finished up his second year of preschool today. We have had the best experience w/ his preschool. In fact, Riley is joining him in the fall, just two mornings a week in a one-year-old class. I am sure it's more like a Mom's Morning Out program, they sure can't be learning much. It'll be good for her though to spend some time away from me, just as it has been great for Jack.

Last week they went to a local farm, where Farmer Rhonda "lives off the land" we were told. Hey- more power to her. I couldn't live w/o my local Harris Teeter, but that's another story. We had loads of fun petting the rabbits, watching the goat be milked, riding the tractor and just having fun w/ his friends (and their mommies- plus one daddy).

This week they had water day on Monday. Jack came home w/ a bit of sun on his shoulders and pizza sauce smeared all over his face, clear cut signs of a good time. He promptly passed out in his chair in the playroom for almost two hours. Today was his end-of-the-year program. They sang a bunch of cute songs and off we went into the summer.

So here we are, ready for summer. Jack's already tried out his brand new pool in the backyard w/ friends (the blow up kind people, not the real thing- what I really want). Riley has a suntan- evidenced by the white creases in her chubby arms and she's working on getting her legs tan too. She actually looks funny in the tub, white belly and all. Jack has a few random summer camps, but mostly we'll be beachin' it, playing golf and baseball (which we do EVERY day), hangin' w/ friends and hitting the local pools. Oh- and building things w/ Legos- his newest interest. Anyway....

We're heading to the beach Friday for a week. I might try to blog while I am down there, not sure. If not, I'll write a big one when we return w/ lots of fun pics.

Until next time...
