Jack went to his first real baseball game yesterday. He's been to a few pee-wee games w/ my mom, but we took him to see the Charlotte Knights (Chicago White Sox AAA team) play the NY Yankees AAA Team, I forgot their name. It was loads of fun.
First of all, tickets were only $7.00 and you could basically sit wherever you wanted. These minor league games aren't much of a draw, which is nice for those of us w/ little ones who like to run up and down the aisle steps w/ their friends. During the first inning Jack eyed the snow cone guy from several sections away. His buddy Brice came back from the concession stand w/ one and then Jack and Maddie roped some money out of their daddies for one. Imagine three 3 year olds scooping sugar, I mean ice, into these large spoons, carefully putting the spoons in their mouths and sipping the sugar, or ice, from the spoon. Yes, they were in heaven.
After a couple more innings we took the kids over to the family fun area. They were able to ride the carousel twice and bounce in the jump castle. They even have a huge slide and a small playground. Jack said it best on the carousel, "Mommy, we're having fun today!" To make our day even better, we had a sitter for Riley, so Jack was getting some serious attention from mommy and daddy, which he needed.
We hit the hot dog stand on the way back and got a footlong. I gave Jack half and Todd and I split the rest. He housed it and asked for another one. (Jack that is, not Todd). He promptly ate another half (totaling a FULL footlong hot dog) and then requested popcorn. Pig.
We left after the 6th inning when they began to get restless. I think they could have lasted the entire game, but since it was a Sunday in S.C. they didn't sell beer, so I think the daddies were ready to go! :-) It was an enjoyable day to say the least.
Until next time...
