So I Don't Forget...

There's always, always been some sort of a routine to putting the kids to bed.
Over the years that routine has changed- but it's a routine nonetheless.

From bath, bottle, bed to Riley reading to me to Jack making one of us say "Sweet Dreams. See you in the morning. Goodnight. I love you." It's always a routine.

Lately Ri's been wanting to turn the lights off and 'chat' after we read to each other.
She's pretty tough to nail down for a serious conversation (I know- shocking) so I try to take this time to talk about 'life' things.

So the other night she says, after the lights are off, "Let's talk about Kody Bear."
So we did.

And then I asked her:
"Tell me one thing that makes you sad."
She answered, "When I get hurt."

And then she asked me and I answered,
"I get sad when you or Jack are hurt."

And then I asked her:
"What makes you happy?"

And she promptly, without hesitation, said:

"When you LOVE me."

Oh. My. God.
Talk about tears welling up in my eyes.

She may drive me crazy with her feistiness and crazy independence, but man, I love her to pieces.

She's just what I want in a little girl!
One day her strong personality will prove her well....

Until next time...
