Who knew we had a cheater on our hands

Jack's not big into board games. I suspect it's because he can't sit still long enough to play one. And I suspect he got that gene from his father. I suppose.

But- once in a while he'll bust out Candy Land or Shutes and Ladders or something preschoolish. Yes- we need to hook them up w/ some better games for Christmas. Maybe if Daddy let us get a Wii we could play that too.

Last night Jack wanted to play Candy Land. I told him to get set up while I dealt w/ Ri for a few minutes. Once she was settled I went into the playroom and sat down for a rockin' game of Candy Land. Jack says to me: "You go first Mom."

HUH?

He alwaayyyysss wants to go first.

So I pulled the first card, moved my little yellow dude and waited for Jack to go.

Wellll- wouldn't you know that Jack pulled the ice cream card. The one that makes you go almost all the way to the land of candy! Hummm. What a coincidence.

He acted so surprised- but it was clearly a fake surprise. Fake by a six year old's standards.

So Jack quickly won the first game. I said to him after the game was over: "My Jack- you are so lucky that you got the ice cream card on your very first turn. Wasn't that lucky." (Wondering if it would make him feel guilty).
I am sure the right thing to do would have been to call him out. But I didn't and oh well. It certainly doesn't make me a bad mommy. And it certainly doesn't make him a bad kid- he's six years old.

Until next time...

haha this is funny! my sister always used to make up the "rules" to board games so that they were in her favor...we still joke about it to this day.
