A tad bit obsessed

For the past week or so I have been a tad bit - ok - quite a bit - obsessed with this song. It has to be the sweetest song I have heard in quite a long time. It's been played on my iPod in my car about 43 1/2 times the last week.

So much of the 'new' music these days is filled w/ hip hop (which I have been known to love as well), rock bands (ugghhh), and these teeny bopper bands (Jonas Brothers, etc...) - none of which I can handle.

But this song is about lightening bugs and fireflies and dreams and dancing and all things 'little kid.' We chased fireflies all the time when I was a kid growing up in semi-rural Indiana. We played freely outside, without the fear of strangers or being taken. We caught lightening bugs and stuffed them into jars, covering them with tin foil and poking holes in top. Just enough room for those sweet little things to breathe.

Today I decided to Google this band (Owl City) and check them out. I clicked on the link and the video popped up. And wouldn't you know- it's a throw back to kids of my generation. One of my all time favorite toys was the Speak and Spell (weird- I know). But I was slightly OCD about spelling when I was a kid (maybe that has something to do w/ Jack's minor obsession with spelling his words correctly). I wish I had a real one. Not the ones they have now that are online.

The Speak and Spell plays a slight cameo in the video of this song, Fireflies.

So- enough about my minor obsession. Listen to it, if you haven't already. It's so darn sweet.

Until next time....

Haha I like that song too. It's just so different. I had NO idea it was called fireflies until I read your post, guess I had never really looked into it. Anyway, I loved chasing fireflies as a little girl too (hence my blog's name). You should check out Faith Hill's "Fireflies" - great song about all that "kid stuff" too!
