What a day

It's 7:42 and the birthday girl is passed out, sitting up in bed, snoozing away. She's been fighting sleep like a mad woman down here at the beach, but tonight she cried for a few minutes while finally succumbing to my voice as I read to her. Not that my voice is so soothing, she was just dog-tired.

Uncle Jeff and Daddy decided to take the three smallest kids to Dicks and buy Cornhole- a beanbag toss game. Tracy and I hit the beach for a few hours by ourselves and enjoyed every last minute. We even ate lunch w/o kiddos- it was nice.

Riley took a 10 minute cat-nap in the car and decided that was enough for her. Todd tried the transfer thing but to no avail. Shocker!

We decided to take the kids to the pool for another swim. We packed up all the noodles, towels, snacks, cooler (adult and kids beverages) and the brand new noodle squirt guns and hopped on the golf cart for the ride to the pool. After about 30 minutes of swimming and water gun fighting the rumbles began off in the distance. A thunderstorm was brewing. We swam for a couple more minutes until the dark clouds began to roll our way.

Soo- the mass exudus of golf carts and SUV'S packed full of beach and pool goers began. It was funny to see how fast everyone got their crap together and took off.

We made it home just in time for a full-on-torrential-downpour.

Everyone showered, bathed and made cocktails and we watched Miss Priss open her gifts (with the help of her cousins and big brother). Riley was blessed with a plethora of American Girl Bitty Baby stuff. Doll, clothes, changing table, bibs, food, blankets, shoes, more clothes....on and on and on. She loves it. Of course she tried to put the clothes on herself, but nonetheless, she loves her new goodies.

Poppy made another yummy meal for us. He made chicken bog w/ shrimp and it was DELICIOUS... all the kids loved it. It really was a great meal. The only thing missing was Gammy and she flies in tonight from her quilting trip.

We ended the day with princess cake and cookie dough ice cream. We have lots of fun pics but those will have to wait until I can upload them onto my computer at home.

Todd flies home tomorrow for a quick meeting and will be back tomorrow night. I'm sure we'll hit the pool again and maybe even the beach.

Unil next time...
