Don't let your 17 month old child eat dinner at the table in a regular chair.
You will end up with a scene like this:

Sadly, it is a rare occasion at our house where the four of us eat dinner together, all at the same time. It almost happened last night, but Riley could hold out no longer. I fed her (in her booster seat) and by the time she was done we were ready to sit down to eat. So- knowing she would end up on one of our laps I sat her on the chair next to me, pulled her up to the table and put some grilled chicken pieces on the table. She ate away, just like a big girl. No high chair or booster seat, just Riley and a big girl chair.
You can see it didn't work out too well.
By the way- why is it when I put green beans or red peppers on Riley's tray for dinner she throws them on the floor, but when she sits on my lap and "eats" off of my lap she'll house them? It is one of the most annoying things. She'll eat like a champ from our plates, but not on her own.
Oh well- I guess she'll eat if she's hungry huh?
Until next time...
