Tunring One

Well, little Miss Priss is now one year and three days old. She started her birthday with a bang, waking up at 5:45 a.m., raring to go. She's been sleeping until 6:30 ish, for 12 plus hours, so it's been great. I've been enjoying not getting up at 5:25 to go to the gym, so when she woke at 5:45 I grumbled. But, she had an enjoyable day.

I was able to spend some time alone with her in the morning because Poppy took the three big kids Put Putting and out to lunch. They also picked up an ice cream pie for RiRi's birthday. That afternoon we hit the pool, as usual, and she enjoyed herself with her cousins. The highlight of her day came that afternoon when she received a beautiful bouquet of flowers from her daddy, who arrived later that afternoon. I must say, it moved me to tears when I read the card, "To my beautiful daughter on her first birthday." Oh my goodness. That made my heart go pitter patter. She got roses and lots of lillies that are still going strong three days later. I'll post a pic of them when we get home.

Unfortunately Riley wasn't able to join us for dinner, she pooped out on us before 6:00, but we sure did eat a piece of ice cream pie in her honor. We sang Happy Birthday, candle and all, looking at her picture. The good thing is she'll never know. It was a good day.

Speaking of dinner. On Friday night we planned on cooking fish and doing spaghetti and meatballs for the kids. Well, the kids had something else in mind. While Steve was out with the kids, the following conversation took place.

Steve: What's every one's favorite food?
Emma: I like steak.
Jack: I like steak too (shocker).
Ava: Poppy, you know I'm a vegetarian.

Soooo funny.... Ava doesn't eat much meat and never has, so that fits her well. Anyway, the kids conned Poppy into buying them lobster and they loved it. Jack ate about 5 helpings of rare tuna. I swear that kid would eat sushi if we took him to a sushi place.

We finally hit the beach this past weekend. We spent some time on Saturday morning down there and then most of yesterday afternoon. Jack has gone from being timid in the ocean to NO FEAR at all. I cannot believe it. His little tan self jumps waves, tries to body surf and gets wacked around with the waves w/o a second thought. I never thought that would happen, but it has. I am so pleased with him. He is basically swimming now too. He jumps in the water and then will swim to us. No catching him anymore. He also likes to be thrown toward the steps and swims the last couple feet. It's amazing to see his journey from non swimmer to swimmer in just a short time.

RiRi is not at a good age for the beach. She crawls everywhere and she puts everything in her mouth, so needless to say, it was great when Todd said he'd stay back with her while she napped. She did join us toward the end and splashed around in a small wading pool.

The 4th is coming up and then it's Todd's birthday on the 6th! Lots to look forward to this week. Plus, Todd and I were in charge of dinner last night, so now we get to sit back and watch the other cook and clean. YEAHHHH....

Until next time...
