Riley

So it's been a while since I have written about Miss Priss, Riley Monroe. I thought I'd get you all up to speed on what she's up to these days. Right now she's snoozing away. We just had breakfast w/ friends at a local diner for Mother's Day. I am going to escape for a bit this afternoon for a pedicure and some shopping. Yeah!

A few weeks ago Riley gave up baby food. She loves, loves, loves to feed herself table food. She eats nuggets like a rock star and likes cheese and many fruits. She doesn't like too many veggies, but I give her cucumbers and green beans and carrots, which she'll eat if she's in the mood. She also enjoys meatballs and hot dogs. She eats buttered toast and banana's for breakfast and will house a container of yogurt. The funniest thing about her eating habits is that she bangs herself against her high chair, just like Jack did when he was her age. I have a feeling she'll be moving to the booster chair full time soon.
Our lazy bones still doesn't crawl. She spent some time this weekend around some little friends that are younger than her and crawling so I was hoping she'd take a hint and get a movin'. No chance. She's all about chilling on the floor, playing w/ her toys. She'll flip onto her belly and twist herself around and scoot backwards, but then gets mad and wants to sit again. She loves to stand up against the ottoman or her LeapFrog play table, and is starting to cruise just a tad, but will probably skip the whole crawling thing. Oh well- it's more time I have before installing gates in our new house, which I don't want to do.
I had to purchase some detangler for her hair. It just cracks me up that I have to use that stuff on her already, at 10 months old. She gets full of rats nests though and I need something to help me out. We've been putting her hair in pig tails recently- super cute. After 6 months of hairbows and pony tails, she has wisened up and started to pull them out. Lovely, huh?
I am enjoying her so much. She toodles around w/ me everywhere and loves to hang out in shopping carts and hold her sippy cup (she's mastered those). She thinks she's hot stuff tipping that sippy cup full of water back and sucking it down, only to spit out what didn't make it down the pipe. It's hard to believe that I am going to the invitation store tomorrow to pick out invites for her first birthday party in June. My how time flies. It's quite scary. I look forward to playing dolls, painting toenails and doing girly things w/ her. I feel so blessed.
Here's some recent pics of our princess.

Jack and Riley chillin' one evening before bath time.

Her favorite spot, standing by the ottoman.

She loves to mess w/ Jack and pull his hair.

Eating dinner one night, rice and snap peas- yummy. It was all over her hair by the end of the meal.

We spent the weekend w/ Emma and Ava for Emma's birthday a couple of weeks ago. Here's the best pic we got, after shooting many.

She has perfected the stare down move.

Until next time....
