7 and three-quarters

This kid is almost 'officially' seven and three-quarters.
I often close my eyes at night and think back to eight years ago.
Todd and I were so ecstatic to be having a boy.
His room was painted and furniture put together
THREE MONTHS
before he arrived.
(I know- shocking- huh?)

I just couldn't stand it.
He changed my life at 10:01 p.m. that fateful Monday night on the 22nd of September, 2003.

Fast forward seven plus years and we are so proud of the young man he's turning into.

He's filled with compassion for others. He respects people.

(a small disclaimer should go here that his sister shall not be considered in the above sentences)

He does not like to be scolded. He does not like to disappoint.

His teacher emailed me today and his reading level has gone from a 16 to a 30 and now sits at a 38. That means he's reading fluently and understands what he reads at the same level of a kid who is at the end of third grade. His teacher wants him to continue working on higher-level thinking skills this summer but we are more than thrilled with his progress.

He is sensitive at times and wants to please. He gets along with almost anyone (unless her name is Riley and she happens to be related to him).

He has a minor obsession with Angry Birds and knock knock jokes. He has a major obsession with all things baseball, his dog, sushi and his Dad.

And he made the 7 U All-Star team for baseball. This is huge for him because it's clear to see he's a little kid. He's come a long way in his baseball skills but his bat is weak since he's so little. The kid hits the ball every time at bat- just not that hard. He'll sit the bench some but being a part of that experience is great for his confidence. We'll be watching lots of Little League baseball in June and early July but then we'll have lots of time off to hang out at the beach.

Way to go Jack!

As for this sweet boy he lost his manhood yesterday.
Poor thing.
He slept quite a bit yesterday and we kept a close eye on him so he wouldn't scratch himself down there :)-

Until next time...
