Day Four

Day Four: Belize City, Belize

Day four was spent in Belize.
I hear Belize is an extremely poor country but luckily we only saw a small slice of it- and it was really cool.

~~~~~
Again- we left the boat bright and early.
We boarded a tender and headed to the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world (2nd only to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia) to do some snorkeling.
We tried on gear and practice breathing w/ the snorkels.
And the kids passed the time with the old-school game Bubble Gum Bubble Gum in a Dish....
Our Captain.
No pics of snorkeling. Jack and Todd went out first but immediately came back in b/c the water was too choppy.
Lucky for me we I was able to hop back in the water with Jack and was escorted by a local w/ an orange life ring thingamajiggie out to the reef for some snorkeling.
After snorkeling we headed to a small island for some beach time.
Once again my camera got a workout.
Our boat ride back to Belize was comical to say the least.
The rum punch was flowing freely and the music was blaring quite loud.
Jack was able to take the wheel for about 8.4 seconds.
Ri and Ava did some dancing.
And Jack watched with his typical open mouth face.
We headed into Belize and ate lunch at a restaurant called The Wet Lizard.
Yum.
After lunch we did a little shopping.
And I saw this:
Dinner was at a hibachi grill where we celebrated Emma's 12th birthday.
Another fabulous evening.
Which ended with another animal made of towels in our room for the kids.
More to come.
Until next time...
what a fun adventure! looks like you all had a great time! harper would do exactly what riley did: dig on the beach to find every shell she could. were you in shell-y places? we're trying to figure out what to do/where to go for spring break next year so shell-digging can happen.
