Todd is grilling.
Riley is reading, bothering Kody, singing about peppermint sticks, begging to play w/ the gingerbread house we made last week.
Football is on TV.
Todd is trying to get Jack to try a venison Slim Jim (thanks to Shane). Gross!
My part of dinner is ready (well except for the cooking of the beans- but that's just a turn of a knob).
So- I am writing. Felt like I haven't written in a long time. I post a lot, but sometimes my posts have more to do w/ pictures than words. I like words. Nothing like the written word. Too bad I don't read much of the written word anymore. If I quit DVR'ing trashy television I'd probably read more of the written word.
So today= no pictures. Just a few written words.
Jack had his second basketball game today. Last weeks was a crystal clear debacle. Jack definitely showed signs of being decent but once again didn't make one basket. The net is 9 feet high and for a 37 lb. kindergardener that's pretty darn high.
Today was much better. He finally made his first two shots (in warm-up, buy hey- it's a start). His defense is pretty darn good. He waves his hands right in the face of the kid he defends and runs his little self all over the court. Once he realized what "get open" meant his offense took a turn for the better. His team won 24-8 and the other team outsized them almost man to man.
He definitely understands what to do, can dribble like no tomorrow and is a great passer but needs work on scoring points. He enjoys it though and is having a blast. I am thankful we signed him up and he has this opportunity to learn the game.
Riley keeps changing for the better. The terrible twos are looooonnnggg gone and we have lots of fun together. She loves to 'read' and be read to. She's really into her Bitty Baby right now: carrying it around, feeding it, playing w/ it, strolling it and just about anything else you can do with a fake baby.
Speaking of babies.... This weekend I was able to snuggle with our friends new baby girl, Campbell. She's about the cutest thing you ever did see. I fed her a bottle, changed her diaper and snuggled for a long time with her. Riley held her and Jack paid her about 1.2 seconds of attention. Todd even snuck a peek at her.
As much as I enjoyed hanging w/ Campbell - it reminds me that our little family is complete. No more babies for the Milligan's. I am perfectly happy with the two I have.
We are gearing up for a huge week: Christmas parties @ school, dinners, play dates, Todd's work travels, Ri's first Christmas program. I need to finish wrapping, buy one more gift, squeeze in a pedicure and then I am done.
That's it for now.
Until next time...
