This past weekend my friend Carrie and I threw the kids in the car and took them to Aw Shucks. We went last year and the kids had a blast so I knew we needed to somehow fit the trip in this year too. The guys stayed back since they went hunting. Yes- you read that right- Todd went hunting. I think he really liked it- he said he wants to go again. And- since he’s turning redneck on us- I’ll tell you that Todd made some homemade boiled peanuts this weekend and they are soooo good.
Here we go….
The kids started out by jumping on the haystacks. I’m surprised there were no broken bones.
And then we headed over to the pumpkin patch area. Mom needed some photo ops (of the kids and the pumpkins!)
Ri and Caroline ‘cheesing it up’ for the camera.
Jack and Carson snuck in a few quick throws of cornhole.
While Ri carried around some pumpkins.
And then Ri said he wanted to ‘touch’ the tractor. So she proceeded over to the tractor and did the one-finger touch.
And then it was time for the corn maze. The maze was much easier this year and the corn wasn’t as tall as last year. Needless to say we did not get lost.
I need to work on Ri’s grin- when I tell her to smile for the camera (which I hardly ever ever do) this is what I get (candids are much better!).
At one point Ri was a little OCD about gathering as much dried up corn as she could.
After the maze was complete we hitched a ride on the wagon:
And Jack enjoyed a little duck racing.
And then finally- the kids were able to pick out a pumpkin and we headed home.
Until next time….
