It’s Tuesday, back to the grind, again. This time it’s for real. No more beach trips planned. Actually, no more trips planned, for a while. We have a wedding in St. Louis next month- but that is a kidless trip!
The beach was awesome. We had lots of fun doing the things you do when you’re at the beach and the kids had lots of time w/ their cousins. Jack and Ava are inseparable when they are together.
We packed in lots of fun in only two days. Here’s a look:
The birds were out in full force. Lots of dead fish floated in the ponds and marshes. Something about the change in temperature in the water. So- the birds decided to have a party.
This was the first time we had even seen woodstorks. They are beautiful.
Saturday morning Todd headed out in the backyard to fish. The three youngest ended up joining him. They didn’t catch anything but had a great time trying.
Ava loves to help out Ri do anything and everything.
Jack tried his best to catch something but had no luck.
After doing a little fishing we packed up the portable grill and a cooler full of hot dogs, hamburgers, snacks and drinks and hit the beach. A good time was had by all.
Jack spent the afternoon boogie boarding and digging holes. Not sure where he gets those abs- certainly not from his mom or dad!
Of course Ri spent her entire time on the beach digging in the sand. No water for her.
Sunday morning started off w/ a bath for Miss Lacey. All four grandkids helped out Gammy.
We walked out back to say hi to Daddy, Poppy and Uncle Jeff as they teed off on 12.
And then we hit up the park down by the beach. The kids had lots of fun.
And I had lots of fun taking their pictures.
Until Emma hijacked my camera and clicked away.
(Proof I do exist- since I am NEVER in any pics).
After the park we headed home and packed up sandwiches and drinks and headed out for a boat ride. Now that was fun. The best part of the weekend.
Ri was a bit apprehensive at first but lived to tell about it and had a great time.
Here she is- a little anxious- but she settled in and loved it.
It was a bit windy which made for lots of water pounding on us.
After cruising for about 15 minutes we docked on a little piece of heaven island and played and ate lunch.
There were several small tidal pools that the kids played in. Ri had a blast- she never realized that she was playing in the ocean!! Ssshhh- we won’t tell her.
The big kids took turns jumping off the boat into the ocean. The great thing about this little island is it’s located right where the creeks meet the ocean and there are no big waves. Just serene, calm waters.
All in all it was a great weekend.
Until next time…
