He Likes It.

Remember that commercial when we were young that used to say "Mikey likes it." It was for Wheaties cereal or something like that. I really can't remember- but I can see that cute kid's face and hear someone saying: "Mikey likes it."

That's Jack. About school. He likes it.

He said today after he hopped off the school bus: "Mom- school is so much fun."

Really?

So innocent. So young. No worries over grades. No worries over exams. Just plain fun. That's how kindergarten is supposed to be. I am thrilled that he loves it and hope that feeling continues throughout the year.

Last night was curriculum night. Right up my ally. I was thrilled to hear her talk about Reader's Workshop and Writer's Workshop. That's how I taught ten years ago. I am super excited that teachers still believe in this style of teaching. Mrs. K. knows her stuff and I know it's going to be a great year. It probably comes as no surprise that I am already volunteering like crazy. It's what I do. I've been out of the schools for 5 years and I miss it (not enough to go back full time). I figure if I pay my dues now while the kids are young I won't have to put in as much time when they are a bit older.

As for Ri- she also loves her class. Her teacher is sweet, kind, loving and we adore her. We have been blessed at our preschool w/ fantastic teachers every year. She started a little program today called Spirit Kids. On Friday's she goes to a little gym class for the last hour of the day. She loved it and thought she was a really big girl.

And- a really big girl is right. Literally- right before my eyes that girl grew up. Even Todd said something about it tonight. No more babies. No more toddlers. Only 'big' kids around here. She loves her dance class and gymnastics. She's riding home with a friend on Monday for a playdate. Oh my. I cannot believe it. She's doing all the things that 'big' girls do. Shhhh- secretly I wish she were still a baby-sshhhhh.

That's it for now.

Until next time....
