What a busy week. And it's only Wednesday.
First, so I don't forget. We went back to the ENT today. Ri needed to go for her six month check up and she's been having some sleep problems, again. Needless to say if she slept like a normal child I would not think she was so high maintenance.
So, Dr. Puri asked me how things were going and I told him about her issues: wicked snoring, waking one-three times a night, etc.... Although three of the last four nights she has slept fine. Figures.
He took one look in her mouth and said, "Wow. Have you seen these?" (Meaning- her tonsils are enormous). Honestly, I didn't even want to see them. Dr. Puri said they rate tonsils on a scale of 1-4. Back in December (when he took her adenoids out) Ri's were considered a 2+ (but they don't take tonsils out on kids under age three anyway). There are now easily a 4. FOUR!
WTH? I guess taking those adenoids out gave her tonsils room to grow. He said they were so large they were almost 'kissing.' He was shocked when I told him she wasn't having trouble eating. I guess most kids w/ tonsils this large don't want to eat. But- it does explain why she's been so nasally.
So- we're going to come home from the beach two days early so they can take them out on the 7th of July. It's a bummer b/c we'll have to leave the beach on Daddy's birthday. And- I'll miss Jack's golf camp- but Todd's going to stick around for it. But- she has summer camp the week of the 20th and we go to the Vineyard the first week in August and I want her healed. Quick. Plus- she can't swim for two weeks. Argh- that's all we're doing these days.
Anyway- maybe, just maybe, this will be the final cure for her sleep ailments. Puuullleeeasseee.

Jack is having a great time at Lego Camp this week. He's going w/ a good friend of his and they are loving it. He missed his friends a lot while we were gone so we're making sure to spend lots of time with his friends in the afternoons this week, which means that momma is running herself ragged. Two kids in camp at two different times/locations and playdates/swimming every afternoon equals one tired momma.

We are having Ri's 3rd birthday party next Saturday. I've been running around gathering decorations, party favors, etc... for her party. We ordered a bounce house and are having some neighbors and a few of her friends over for pizza and bouncing. A little like last year, but the kids had fun, so why change a good thing?

Jack and I have been keeping up w/ his reading this summer. He has testing for kindergarten in late July and I want him to do well. He's reading books cover to cover now and is moving away from the beginnner reader books.
Tonight we were reading Dr. Suess' Green Eggs and Ham together. He read the shorter pages with me reading the longer pages. He did great but kept getting stuck on the words "would" and "could."
Who on earth decided to spell 'would' with an L? You should have seem him trying to sound these two words out. Poor thing. I finally had to tell him how to say it.

Daddy's been gone this week and we sure do miss him. He's off to Oklahoma City and Cincinnati in two and a half days. He texted me today to tell me he was in the same terminal as Tom Brokaw. Pretty cool!

That's about it. Father's Day this weekend. We have some plans to grill out with friends and of course watch the US Open A LOT!
Until next time....
