A trip cut short

Well- it's Saturday and I'm home, blogging. Not in the mountains. Let me back up.

We left Thursday afternoon and got to our rental house around 3:30. It was definitely a gorgeous house. The weather was superb and we went out for dinner at a cute little Italian place.

We knew it was supposed to rain all day Friday and rain it did. From sun up to sun down. We still managed to have a good time though. We headed out Friday a.m. and hit a local toy store and a touristy trap called Mystery Hill. It's an old house that has been converted to a museum of sorts with a room that is slanted and made the adults skittish. We then headed into Blowing Rock for lunch at their local cafe. We spent the afternoon and evening indoors playing games, eating, making pizzas, sitting by the fire and just hangin'. It was great.

This morning we woke to no rain and the sun breaking through in the distance. The guys took the big kids out for a 'hike.' The kids had fun and were able to get out into the woods by our house.

Late this morning we headed over near Grandfather Mountain so the kids could go fishing at the Grandfather trout farm. We were there for about 10 minutes when my cell rang.

It was my mom and her and RiRi had gotten into an accident. Luckily neither one of them was hurt (they did take Ri to the ER for precaution) but both of them are fine. My mom's car was pretty banged up and she was pretty down emotionally so we decided to come on home.

So- that's why I'm sitting here catching up on DVR shows and icing my ankle again instead of enjoying Scott's tenderloin dinner in the mountains.

There's always next year.

I have pics- I'll upload them tomorrow.

Until next time...

For all those that read Alison's blog, I am ok and so is Miss Priss.
She was back to her normal silly self as soon as we got home. It is not a good thing when you think "what if". Those thoughts wreak havoc on your emotions. I thank Todd and Alison from the bottom of my heart for being so gracious and understanding. I love you both....Mom
