Double Trouble

Jack has never been one of those color-on-the-wall type of kids. I have always been able to leave a box of markers, crayons, glue, scissors and paper out for him to use at his leisure. Not an issue. Riley, on the other hand, thinks the world is her mural.

She's been into coloring quite a bit lately. Sometimes I'll give her a notebook and some crayons and she'll sit diligently on the floor and color. It's quite cute. She's been known to walk around with the crayons all bundled up in her hand but she is pretty good with them.

That is until yesterday. She walked down into our room with a green crayon in her hand and sat down on the bathroom floor and promptly began to color on the tile. I took the crayon away. A few minutes later I noticed a nice little patch of green scribble on the wall at the top of the stairs. Sweet. No more walking around with crayons my dear.

Now for the other half of my double trouble children.

I swear to you that Jack has never colored anywhere that he's not supposed to, at least to my knowledge. Yesterday he had a play date with a little girl down the street. Riley and I walked down the street to pick him up around 4:30 and the sitter (mom works a few hours each afternoon) answered the door and looked a little disheveled and started to apologize to me. Before I could figure out what was going on Jack walks down the stairs and heads for the door.

I quickly realize that he has taken red marker and colored his entire legs and one arm red. The sitter then tells me that they colored her dresser, window, art table and themselves while she was taking care of the baby. OMG! Thank God they were using washable markers. I made Jack come home, get in the tub and wash himself.

Come to find out that it all began because they wanted to make their noses red to be like Rudolf.

So- all in one day both of my kids went crazy with the coloring.

Until next time...
