Spring Teaser

It's amazing how much one's mood can change when the weather is nice. Since before the holidays it's been pretty cold here, cold enough for us to spend most of our time inside. I know, it has not been below freezing, but I see no need in taking a 7 month old out in cold weather just for the sake of playing outside.

Yesterday was one of the most beautiful days in recent memory. It was about 73 degrees, slight breeze and full sun. We tried to spend as much of the day outside as possible. We ran a couple of errands (with the windows down, singing loudly) in the morning and returned home around 11. I put Riley down for a nap and she slept for 1 1/2 hours (miracle- must be the weather). Jack and I hung out outside, organizing all the garage toys while he zipped around the yard in his jeep.

After Riley woke up we ate lunch and hit the park. It was PACKED! I thought it might not be too bad since it was around 1:00, nap time for most little ones and school time for most big ones. I guess there's lots of home schooled kids around here b/c there were kids crawling everywhere. Lucking, Jack found a pack of boys to play "trucks" with in the sand. We never go to the park w/o a truck. That would be like leaving the house w/o a bottle, won't happen. We even ran into his friend Sofia from preschool.

After playing in the sand for an hour or so we went on a walk. The park we frequent has paved nature trails that run through the woods and down by the water. Jack likes to push his big truck around on the trails. It works great for me b/c I keep Riley in the stroller, give her some goldfish and we're all good to go.

Our day would have been perfect if Jack didn't have a monumental meltdown about getting dressed (late afternoon shower after the park). He demanded I stand on the OTHER side of the bed to help him get dressed. Ain't happening. I don't play into those mind games of "I'm in control mommy!" We got through it and he was fine.

Of course we wake today and it's chilly again. Maybe we get some more Spring Teasers soon, that would be nice.

Until next time...
